Hello World!

SADG2020 goes live

When the baby is born, the baby is born.

What started out in 2017 as a little project on Facebook called Southern African Dakar Group, to support the Bikers with low budgets, has now grown into a website to support all the Southern Africa Dakar entrants. Our goals have not changed, but the platforms need to adapt and grow. Over the last 3 Dakar’s, we have seen Facebook traffic reaching 200 000 plus people per year.

Due to the nature of Facebook and other social media platforms, today’s news fades into the distance of social noise, and some information starts repeating, or there never is a place to get all the info in just one place. Hence, the birth of the SA Dakar Group webpage. And yes, it’s still in infancy stage as we wait for information from most Dakar 2020 entrants.

This has been, and will be a team effort in future, and without Stephie Vetter and Johann van Deventer’s support and input, it may never have happened. We will still maintain the social media platforms on WhatsApp, Telegram and others, but that will be for the regular gossip and news.

So, going forward, please use the website to get into contact with any of the competitors or constructors. Support them financially if you can, obviously the Dakar is not a cheap event.  We have included their contact information on their relevant pages, and will continue updating their info as time goes by.

Enjoy the journey with us! Feel free to contact us with suggestions or information. We are open to ideas.

Onwards then to Dakar 2020!

From the SADG Team – Stephie, Johann and Eugene
