My racing career: Found himself on a motorcycle from a very early age. His illustrious national career started at the tender age of 6 since then, he has raced at the highest level in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana, Kenya and Namibia. On top of his 17 National Championship titles, Ashley has also won 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze titles at the FIM – All Africa Championships. He is also the only Zimbabwean to ever win a Championship in every class available, an achievement that was rewarded with National colors in 2016.
What made you want to do the Dakar? Greame Sharp first planted the seed of the chances of doing it. Seeing him on the podium was an eye opener for me and it was then know I could achieve the same.
Highlights : The whole journey to Dakar has been an emotional rollercoaster but 2x stage wins in Mexico had to be a really great moment.
Your biggest supporter(s): My home town Zimbabweans have been amazing.
My plan for Dakar 2023: The 1st plan was to qualify which has been met. Next step is to financially back myself to getting to the start line. Then to finish the 45th edition of the Dakar Rally in 2024.
