“HONOUR THE NAME OF OUR COUNTRY”
Paulo Oliveira is a proud man. Not only will he be taking part in the Dakar of his dreams, he’ll also, come the 1st of January, become the first rider from Mozambique to enter the rally. An accomplishment noticed by the president of his country Filipe Jacinto Nyusi himself who sent him a message of congratulations via social media. Oliveira initially qualified for the Dakar back in 2020 after managing to finish the Andalucia Rally. He waited an extra year before the big step up, gaining extra experience during the Morocco Rally and several Baja races around the world. It’s now time to take on the Dakar and raise that Mozambique flag high.
“I will do everything to honor the name of our country and our flag. Our main objective is to finish the race, complete the 8500 kilometers. It is necessary to understand that there are teams of manufacturers linked to this competition, which are 100% professional and work on this 365 days a year. Our purpose is to work day after day and simply compete. It’s a big challenge that needs a lot of effort. It is necessary to know how to manage physical effort, as the rally requires a lot of it. We have to last the 12 days and compete at the highest level”.
